Congress should never be able to vote for their own raises. Members of Congress have the only job in the country whose occupants can set their own salary.
In 1989, Congress passed an amendment allowing for their automatic cost of living raises. This is unconstitutional and should be downright illegal. Congress should not be able to vote or pass anything having to do with their own salary. How was this allowed to happen? This amendment must be repealed immediately. This is unconstitutional and should have been illegal. This is unjust and unacceptable.
