It is written clear as day in the BILL OF RIGHTS. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess and carry firearms.[1]
It does not clarify which firearms we can or can not own. In many cases that varies from state to state. Which has worked up until now? One tradgedy changes the outlook on firearms forever? 99.9% of americans that have firearms do not use them to commit crime, use them for unfair gain within the populous, or gun down their fellow countrymen. Maybe instead of spending MY money, OUR money as americans to keep US from exercising OUR rights, you should concentrate your efforts in finding a system that does not allow guns to fall into the hands of the mentally unstable. Guns are tools, but the person kills.
