The definition of "Full-time" work in federal labor law should be reduced to 30 hours per week (triggering overtime pay for all hours in excess of 30 hrs./week). This would create more jobs. For example, an employer who needs 90 hours/week of labor would then employ 3 full-time workers instead of 2 workers with a bit of overtime. Most of Europe has already reduced the number of hours worked by "full-time" workers. Why should we keep a system that helps perpetuate the growing income gap between those who have a full-time job and those who desperately need one?
