A 35 hour work week should be imposed to counter rises in productivity keeping unemployment high.

Created by B.B. on January 18, 2013

The reason that a strong middle class was created in this country, was because we limited labor. The 40 hour work week made employers hire more people instead of working people for 60 and 70 hours. This would help in creating a labor shortage which helps wages to climb. Employers have enjoyed the ability for an employee to get a lot more done from new technologies, and yet the new productivity has not yielded higher wages as it normally does. If they must pay overtime over 35 hours, they will have to hire 12.5% more employees to get the same amount of work for the same price. This would eliminate the unemployment problem.
