We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

6,630,507 - The Cannabis Patent Paradox

Created by M.H. on August 15, 2016

This petition entreats the United States federal government to:

1.) Clarify its contradictory position on Cannabis by clearly addressing Cannabis' placement on the DEA's Schedule 1 controlled substance list, while:
(a) holding patent #6,630,507 which lists "cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants"
(b) operating the Compassionate IND Program.

2.)Rectify this contradiction by:
(a)offering a logically sound and valid explanation of why this seeming hypocrisy is allowed to exist, or
(b) relinquishing ownership of the patent to the American public, or
(c) by mandating the DEA to reschedule Cannabis in such a way that the medical value indicated on the patent is recognized.

3.) Satisfy the above in a manner which does not insult the intelligence of the American public.
