To advocate gun control as a means of crime prevention is to ignore statistical fact, historical evidence, and common sense.
It is a statistical fact that there is a strong correlation between high gun ownership rates and low murder rates at the city, state, and national levels. While I do not claim cause and effect here, as correlation and causation are not the same thing, this correlation should give any policy maker pause when considering gun control.
Historically, abolition did nothing to decrease alcohol consumption and the drug war has not reduced drug use in the US, so why would you think banning guns will prevent gun use in crime?
Common sense tells us that criminals will ignore your gun bans.
Stop trying to disarm law abiding citizens. Find solutions that will work instead.
