Abolish the 24 month waiting period for Medicare coverage after disability

Once a person has been deemed disabled by Social Security Disability, they have to wait two years to receive Medicare coverage. This is unfair to the disabled. They have lost their jobs, and more times than not their health insurance coverage, and cannot afford a private policy. State funded Medicaid is not available for those that have children in the home, or a spouse that works. The disabled are going without necessary care because they simply cannot afford it. Many have lost everything due to their illness or disability, will they have to lose their life too before they can get health care coverage?
