The 2nd Amendment was created at a time when there was no national military to defend the State or Country. It was incumbent upon the individuals to operate as a well regulated militia for defense. Since there is no need for a militia anymore, there is no reason to continue to have a 2nd Amendment. Abolish this and then decide who is elegible for gun ownership based on background checks, limit what firearms are availble for sale, and create a Mental Health database so mentally disturbed people do not have access to weapons.
