Abolish all current tax law and replace with a singular sales tax

Taxes are important to keep our great country operating. They are used to provide numerous services such as military, police, fire departments, teachers, free health clinics and the roads we all enjoy. Taxes are essential to our way of life but the tax system has become very complicated. The majority of Americans have been cheated by the IRS simply because we don't know all the tax laws. It is unjust and totally unnacceptable to have a tax code that complex. I believe that we should have a simple sales tax that covers everything. 10-12% for the federal government, 3% for state, .25 - .50 for county and 1% for local. That's a maximum tax rate of 16.5%. If our government can't survive off of that then they should adjust their budgets like we have to...not demand more. Lead by example!
