Abolish all handguns, and all long guns, except those used by hunters with legitimate tags.

To enact legislation that would effectively ban most gun ownership in this country, with the exception of hunters who have paid for tags, to legitimately hunt wild game. All handguns would be banned except for police and other civil servants including all state's National Guard units. Hunters would have their weapons stored in a safe location where they could check it out for target practice and hunting purposes. Background checks would be enforced for these individuals. All weapons currently owned by other citizens not meeting these criteria would need to turn them in to local law enforcement and receive due compensation for said weapon. Any individual found with an unauthorized weapon would face felony prosecution and possible incarceration.
