Abolish all state regulations requiring a current prescription to purchase contact lenses. They should be available as an over-the-counter purchase. Canada already does it this way.
The current regulations force contact wearers to needlessly visit the optometrist for an exam every 1-2 years, regardless of any perceived change in vision strength. The current regulations smack of something that was created on behalf of the optometrist lobby (if that is a real thing)
Making these vision exams optional would avoid unnecessary spending on the part of contact wearers, insurers, and AHCA subsidies.
