The alternative minimum tax was created to ensure that people who had excessive deductions, like Donald Trump, paid their fair share of taxes. Instead it punished families that have dual incomes but have normal deductions like mortgages and children. While Wall Street people are paying 10-15% tax dual income families are paying 20-25%. Completely unbalanced and unfair. How can these families get ahead, pay for retirement, college education etc.
Time to fix the tax code.
