Abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' ability to regulate Firearms.

Created by J.W. on November 09, 2011

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is responsible for one of the most damaging, and ill-considered Government programs in history. Operation Fast and Furious allowed firearms to “walk”, placing them in the hands of violent Mexican Drug Cartels. The theory was, this would help to confirm the fact that such weapons were being trafficked to the Cartels. As a result, approximately 600 (out of Aprox. 2500) Fast and Furious weapons have been recovered. However, many of these were recovered after the fact at crime scenes, including the death of a US Border Patrol Agent. The BATF totally failed in its attempts to track the weapons, and gained little from the program. As a result, the ability to regulate and police firearms in the US should be returned to the States themselves.
