Under civil forfeiture laws, law enforcement can take property merely suspected of involvement in criminal activity without convicting or charging the owner with a crime.
Law enforcement agencies at all levels of of government have increasingly relied on Civil Asset Forfeiture to financially profit and fund their departments at the expense innocent, disproportionately minority or poor citizens stripping them of their property, emptying bank accounts leaving them with no means to defend themselves or without the due process of the law.
Civil Asset Forfeiture cannot be "reformed" and must be abolished because another compromise will only lead to more abuse and misuse. Civil Asset Forfeiture, at its core constitutes a conflict of interest and violate several provisions our Bill of Rights
