Currently, Columbus Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States on October 12. Though Christopher Columbus did make a few discoveries, he was a horrible man who killed, raped, and enslaved many Native Americans, stealing their gold in the process.
He is honored with the same admiration as Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
