Abolish columbus day and change it to National Aboriginal Day.

Christopher Columbus discovered Caribbean islands, not North America. Leif Eriksson discovered this continent 500 years before Columbus. Let us remember that this place was not completely unknown before their time, this continent had been inhabited by native aboriginal people who had survived here for tens of thousands of years prior. America was truly not discovered, it was merely found. The atrocities that have been committed against native aboriginal people from that time forth are a permanent scar this nation must bear, but it does not mean that it is too late to achieve complete rectification. Columbus day is a farce, let's not celebrate a man who murdered, raped, and enslaved. Acknowledge our native cultures and give them the respect they deserve!
