The observance of Columbus day should be abolished not only due to the fact that it is impossible to "discover" an occupied land, but also due to the cruel treatment towards indigenous peoples during the European colonization of the American continents which followed Columbus's discovery. We should be observing an Indigenous Peoples, Natives or First Americans Day.
