abolish Columbus Day as a Federal holiday and create Voting Day on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Created by M.L. on November 02, 2015

This petition encourages the United States government to abolish Columbus Day and create a new federal holiday -- Voting Day -- on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Christopher Columbus, while a part of America's history, committed atrocities ranging from genocide, to slave trade, to sex trafficking. He does not deserve the honor of an American federal holiday.

Meanwhile, voters often have to choose whether to miss work or skip voting because of work obligations, despite the fact that voting is one of the most patriotic acts an American can undertake.
