Abolish Credit Reporting Services, Indemnify Consumers and Make Creditors Liable for Extending Credit to ID Thieves

Created by K.J. on January 30, 2014

In light of the recent Target and many other breaches to private consumer information, and given the abominable treatment of consumers by the three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Transunion, and Experian), we request that legislation be promoted that will abolish all credit reporting agencies.

The ability to steal our personal identities because of ineffective security controls on the finance industry has left most individual citizens powerless to limit access or correct their own personal information.

Companies who extend credit should be the ones held responsible for lending to the wrong people.

Businesses should NOT be allowed to profit on the private information of others. Especially when mistakes can cause so much harm to us and they are afforded only token responsibility.
