Daylight Saving Time was implemented during World War 1 to save energy. Recent studies have shown that the energy savings as a result of DST are minimal at best and impractical at worst. Why, in 2016, are we still clinging to something from the late 1910s? A lot of people seem to think it helps farmers', but if I may quote Last Week Tonight, "cows don't care what time it is."
Similar studies about DST have measured the health effects of abruptly gaining or losing an hour and the toll it takes on the human body and psyche. Among other side effects, car accidents increase the first few days after a time change occurs and for older people there is even the chance of having a stroke.
We petition the White House to abolish Daylight Saving Time, an outdated practice in a modern era.
