abolish Daylight Savings Time.

Created by D.J. on March 10, 2014

There may have been a time in US history where Daylight Saving Time (DST) provided some benefit to the people. That is no longer the case.

In the past, when there was a need to reserve resources, DST was a welcome solution. World War I and II are examples that come to mind. However, that need no longer exists in the same extremes as it did back then.

Studies have been conducted on energy savings due to DST over the years and have found that little, if any, savings are actually gained. Any savings that might be seen in the fall and spring are easily lost in the summer and winter with increases in gas and electrical consumption. If the basis of DST is energy savings, the findings make this practice obsolete.

Based on the evidence, it is time to reconsider DST and discontinue the practice.
