Daylight Savings Time was created at a time when agricultural jobs made up the majority of American life - it made sense to try and make the most of the daylight during the seasons by shifting business hours to reflect the lengthening days. However, in today's modern society, this policy results in multiple societal problems, namely insomnia and circadian sleep disruption, work inefficiency, confusion when dealing countries and states that don't follow DST rules, and myriad other problems biennially.
Since the majority of Americans no longer focus our lives on farming as much and the growing popular opinion of DST is annoyance and grief, it is time to acknowledge this program as a well thought-out, yet antiquated system, and call for its repeal in the United States.
