This antiquated World War II-era practice does not save energy, especially in today's world of 24-hour operations. Even businesses that close at night leave the parking lot lights burning all night long.
The only thing accomplished with DST is the disruption of the human biological clock. Daylight is gained because of the tilt of the Earth starting at the Winter Solstice. Resetting the time does nothing. You are only getting up an hour earlier.
Instead of tampering with the clocks, encourage employers to start their operations early during the summer season for those who insist they need the extra hour of daylight.
