Abolish the Death Penalty

The onset of DNA testing in criminal cases has proven that historically, half the people who have been executed in the United States, were innocent. According to the Innocence Project; eyewitness misidentification, improper forensics, false confessions, unreliable informants, and "bad lawyering," are some of the main factors that help to put innocent people behind bars. It is questionable as to whether or not any legal system at all can protect, one hundred percent of the time, against sending an innocent person to his or her death. Therefore, the only sure way to protect against the egregious possibility of additional innocent people being executed in the United States, is to do away with the death penalty altogether.
