Although the death penalty is sometimes effective, many times it is wrongful or unethical. Every time a person is put on death row, there is a chance that that person is innocent of the crime they were convicted of. Executing prisoners also is not humane; not only does it not give the prisoner a second chance, killing someone that has killed someone else is just as terrible. Lastly, sentencing someone to life in prison is as much as ten times less expensive than putting him or her to death. To preserve morality and justice for all in this country, the death penalty should be abolished.
