The Department of Agriculture, next to the Federal Reserve, is the root of our health care problems in the United States. Money is allocated towards failing systems which in turn creates distorted markets and unhealthy food. The right to buy food locally which is produced naturally shall not be infringed upon. The Department of Agriculture stifles innovation in the farming community and caters to an ever dependent populace through food stamp programs and entitlements. Let the people feed themselves. Food will be cheaper and healthier if the people can provide for themselves. Just as the prices of electronics become cheaper as technology improves through innovation and free markets so will the food industry. This includes everything grown, plant or animal, by a farmer or any individual.
