Abolish the Department of Education as a Cabinet Position.

Created by S.R. on September 25, 2011

The Department of Education is an unnecessary and arguably unconstitutional federal bureaucratic intrusion into state and local affairs. Since its inception in 1979, the department has not provided any measurable improvement in educational standards in the United States. The vast majority of the department's activity is to allocate money to state and local governments, a process that is highly subject to corruption. By eliminating the Department of Education, the US could cut approximately $100 Billion in unnecessary spending and lessen the stranglehold that the National Education Association and other teachers' unions have on our children.
