The Federal Government portion in 2011 to fight the war on drugs was $23.44 billion. This is an incredible amount of wasted resources. People still use drugs, people still sell and buy drugs. This money would be better spent on education and treatment for those who want it. We would be better off as a society to legalize all drugs and tax them.
If anyone is really concerned about reducing the Federal deficit abolishing the Drug Enforcement Agency is a no brainer.
