The Electoral College is an outdated concept conceived at a time when the general public had little access to information and therefore were seen as unfit to directly vote for a president. Hence, electors were nominated to nullify that problem. However, in this day and age, almost the entire country has some form of access to news or information, and are significantly more in tune with presidential candidates and their policies. Additionally, because of the "winner take all" system in 48 of our 50 states, those who disagree with the majority get little representation. Polls have also found that the majority of Americans would like the electoral college to be abolished and replaced with a popular vote. Getting rid of this system would help adapt our election policies to this new age.
