The fact that a candidate can become president despite not winning the popular vote is a sign of a seriously flawed system. If a candidate wins a state, the votes of all those who voted against him become completely meaningless. Not only this, but the president can be determined even before all states have finished voting, making the votes from the last few states even more meaningless. It is not democracy if some votes are more important than others. If the American people want a truly fair and democratic system, the electoral college should be rid of. Without it, every single vote would count, and the president that the people truly want would win.
