The electoral college allows parties to benefit from gerrymandering and reduces the power of an individual's vote. We're to the point that the election is no longer decided by all of us - the election is decided by people in a couple swing states.
There have been 5 elections where the president elect won the electoral college without winning the popular vote. Two of those elections have been very close contentious elections within our lifetimes - in 2000 and 2016. Last night, Florida and Pennsylvania decided who would be our nation's president. In 2000, Florida decided who would be our nation's president.
Our votes for the leader of our nation should all count - not just those in swing states. Abolish the electoral college and decide our nation's leader by popular vote!
