We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Abolish the Electoral College

Created by N.G. on November 09, 2016

Twice now in the last 16 years the winner of the Presidential election was not the person who won the majority of votes. This goes against the entire purpose of elections: to let the people decide. First in 2000 and now in 2016 more votes have gone to the losing candidate, which makes no sense. The Electoral College gives different weight to every person's vote. A person's vote in a less populated state is mathematically worth more than someone's in a more populated state. Furthermore, the Electoral College makes it so the votes for the candidate with the least support in very partisan states don't matter. For these reasons, the Electoral College should be abolished.
