The goal of this petition is to urge Congress to amend the constitution and abolish the antiquated electoral college system and replace it with a popular vote system. In two of the last five presidential elections, the President of the United States has been selected by the electoral college without receiving the popular vote of the people of the United States. The electoral college also promotes an unbalanced weighting per vote rather than “One Person, One Vote,” which negatively affects citizens living in a state where a majority of individuals hold opposing political views.
