Several times in US history, the US president is elected not by the people, but the electors of the electoral college. In the year 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote by more than half a million. This is 1.5 percent of voters. Four more times in history, the people were ignored, and the person that got less votes won the presidential elections. This is completely unjust. And just this year, Hillary won the popular vote by about a couple hundred thousand votes. In conclusion, the electoral college takes away our status as a representative democracy, as with the current method of choosing the future president is not representative, nor democratic.
