ABOLISH THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE!

Created by B.K. on November 11, 2016

Sadly, the person who (was the most qualified to represent our country & )won the most popular votes did not become the President -Elect because of the antiquated Electoral College system. Historically, the Electoral College was set up so that voters could choose a representative who was better educated/better informed than themselves to cast a vote for president. Part of underlying rationale for such a decision lay in the fact that any type of news took longer to get to disparate communities within the country. Later, trains and other modern developments hastened the spread of news to larger regions. Currently, news is instantly available through internet and other media, on a global level. It is time to retire this horse & buggy Electoral college & return the vote to "the People."
