The Electoral College is an outdated system that was designed to put a barrier between the people and the selection of the president. Hopefully the idea that the people are not capable of picking the president no longer has credibility. With the Electoral College abolished, presidents would be chosen by popular vote. That way, the candidate who gets the most votes in an election wins. Period. With the change in fortunes of the parties this cycle, where the Republicans were disadvantaged by the system, this may finally be the moment where we can get bipartisan support on ending the Electoral College.
