The Electoral College is past it's time. It was put into place back in the day so the candidates would visit every state, and not just the large states. The popular vote should win the election, but because of the Electoral College, the overall popular vote doesn't mean anything, just take a look at the 2000 election between Bush and Gore. Many votes feel that their vote doesn't count because the Electoral College decides the election. If it's abolished, more people might make it to the polls and the majority of the people in the United States might actually be happy with whoever is elected, unlike today.
