Abolish the electoral college.

Created by P.W. on June 03, 2012

One voter = one vote. That's it. Simple, isn't it?

The current presidential election process allows candidates to focus on a few states while marginalizing many citizens across the country.

As demonstrated in 2000, there may be a clear majority of American voters left with a president they didn't vote for, resulting from tens of votes in a swing state. It isn't just the Florida ballot fiasco either. So many states are so polarized that many thousands of voters may as well not vote - and they don't - simply because their vote will not influence the electoral process.

Republicans in Massachusetts or democrats in Oklahoma may as well not vote - their actions have NO influence on the outcome. To suggest otherwise is misleading.

This is unamerican by moderns standards and should end.
