In a fair democracy, the vote of every individual should be counted equally; however the system that is used by the United States for the election of the president, is unfairly designed and easily manipulated to the advantages, and interests of candidates.
Within the system of the electoral college, candidates often outright ignore states that do not offer high amounts of electoral college votes, states such as Montana, Idaho, and Vermont; for example. Alternatively, states such as Texas, Florida, and New York are showered with attention by candidates.
By switching to a system in which there is no electoral college, and elections are won by popular vote, candidates will be forced to make visits to smaller states, and not unfairly divide their attention to states with more electoral votes.
