The electoral college is an obsolete institution. Today's communications and data management easily allow for presidents to be elected via popular vote. Eliminating the electoral college means that elections will be fairer, because one state can't push the election one way or another any longer. No electoral college means that presidential candidates must be responsible to all voters, and must campaign in more than just the swing states. Eliminating the electoral college gives voting power back to the people of the United States.
