The Electoral College is an outdated system due to the fact it was put in place so citizens who could not make it to the polls or who did not have the access to be informed would have a wiser man make a vote for them. Now we have the ability and technology to be informed, unlike during the time the system was put in place.
By abolishing the Electoral College, voters are guaranteed to have their vote make a difference along with a president being voted in by popular vote and popular vote alone. A good example is the Bush vs. Al Gore election where Bush lost the popular vote, but still made it into office.
If we get rid of this system, we will get a larger voter turn out and a much more politically active populace because their votes would now matter much more than they do now.
