Abolish the Electoral College, and elect officials solely on the basis of a popular vote.

Created by B.S. on November 15, 2012

The electoral college is an antiquated, outdated system for electing officials, ideal for a time when votes had to be carried by horseback, when communication was far more difficult, media limited, and a politician could be popular locally but virtually unknown nationally.

With technological advancements, we can take a popular vote with greater expedience and accuracy, making the electoral college obsolete. The Government's role is first and foremost to carry out the will of the people as it applies to the constitution, and the electoral college system leaves many voters, especially those not living in swing states, feeling disenfranchised by the system, as though their vote doesn't actually count.
