In order to move forward in perfecting our Union, we the people must use technologies previously unavailable to the Founding Fathers for the purpose of ensuring the innovation of democracy. The Electoral College is an invention of the past that has served its purpose remarkably up until the present, but the situation unfolding before the Nation is one in which there now exist technologies to implement a completely and directly democratic Presidential Election.
The internet presents the opportunity to remove the wall of proxy from democracy, and many existing services exist to facilitate this; all votes could be made via absentee ballot or an undeveloped electronic system. The USPS exists partly to do this anyway, and NARA could be tasked with the safe handling of all collected vote
