We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Abolish the electoral college, and recount the 2016 election by counting individual votes.

Created by J.W. on November 09, 2016

The reason we instated the electoral college in the past is that the founders at the first convention did not trust individuals to agree on what was best for the majority, there was no way to quickly and effectively count a massive number of votes, and it worked for a long time.

Nowadays, we have many advances in technology, votes can be counted instantaneously and electronically. With the ability for electors to be bribed and otherwise persuaded to change their votes for personal gain, their choices can no longer be trusted to reflect the desires of the people. The system is unfairly skewed towards those with the power to influence electors.

It's time to change the system.
