We the people of the United States of America have the right to be heard. Too often the people believe that their vote no longer matters, and in some cases, it doesn't. We vote for who we want as President, then allow another person to vote however they want in our stead. In recent elections, such as the 2008 election, a candidate lost the popular vote but won the election. This does not represent the American way. If the majority of the population votes for one individual and then the other wins, then we are no longer a democratic republic. We have moved beyond the need for an electoral college. We have the technology and know-how to count and used the popular vote securely. Using popular vote will reduce the payoffs and corruption involved in our presidential election process.
