abolish the electoral college in favor of a direct popular vote.

Created by S.B. on January 29, 2014

I understand that we needed the Electoral College once upon a time when we didn't have the means to count the popular vote in a timely manner. That was a long time ago, now we know the outcome of the popular vote almost as soon as we know the outcome of the electoral vote. There are no laws binding the Electoral College to vote with the majority of voters in their district. To me, this implies that we don't know whats best for us and that we need a select few (the Electoral College) to make these decisions for us. Unless you are on the Electoral College your vote does not count in a presidential election.
