America was created as a democracy, a place where the majority have the right to enact social change. However, our democracy has repeatedly failed us due to the Electoral College. Rather than the next commander-in-chief be elected by the majority of the population, states instead choose to vote for electors who pledge themselves to vote for certain candidates, resulting in 4 instances in which candidates who won the majority support of citizens were unable to ascend to the presidency. Initially, to prevent so-called factions from electing a candidate whose policies and values do not benefit the majority, this process is what has allowed Trump, arguably the most dangerous candidate in modern times, to become the next president. Let's abolish the college and take back our country.
