Abolish the Electoral College as the system for selecting a presidential candidate. Move to one-person, one-vote system.

Created by M.D. on December 10, 2015

A true democracy is responsible directly to the people it governs. The influence of the people is significantly dampened by the presence of the Electoral College. The current system allows candidates to win the popular vote of the nation and still lose the Electoral College vote. This system creates unfair power in certain "battleground" states and allows candidates to focus solely on winning those states rather than actually speaking to the nation. The system is flawed, and it is time to repair it. Our nation, as a worldwide advocate of democracy and justice, should count every individual vote across the nation in order to truly represent the public opinion in choosing a leader. It is time to abolish the practice of using the electoral college to select a president. One person - One Vote.
