With communication and technology the citizens of our country are now equipped to obtain information regarding all eligible candidates and make informed decisions on their own therefor the need for the electoral college is mute. Thirty-one of our states have passed legislation to accept popular votes provide the federal government shall also listen to the people and change our system to a true democratic voting process. This would level the campaign field and lower the special interest group influences. The candidates would forced to actually acquaint themselves with the people thereby hearing what our biggest concerns are based on. The people would be more likely to vote based on what they see and hear rather than the mud and muck that gets tossed around now.
