Abolish the entirety of the tax code and replace with a flat income tax at a rate of 20%, coupled with a $7,000 rebate.

Created by A.B. on November 14, 2012

Taxes are too complicated. The complicated codes imposes significant costs just to pay them. Taxes should be easy to pay and understand. Instead of graduated rates and deductions, we urge the President to recommend the following to congress: Abolish the current tax code and replace it with a flat rate for all persons (say 20%) coupled with a flat rebate for all (say $7,000). With these figures, households making less than $35,000/year would get a net rebate. Households making more than $35,000/year would pay a net tax, and households making $35,000/year would pay nothing and receive nothing (their tax burden would be $7,000, and it would be offset by their rebate $7,000).
